Welcome!

Hi Kids!  This Page is just for you!  After you read some information about your puppy you can click on the links below to visit a few fun web pages.

Owning a pet is a very big responsibility.  Just like you rely on mom and dad for certain things, your new puppy will rely on you for basic needs:

Food
Mom and dad make sure you eat healthy food everyday.  Puppies need the same care.  They need a premium puppy food formulated for their growing bodies.  Puppy food is made to help bones and bodies grow to their maximum potential.

It's fun to give our pets a treat once in a while.  Just help your family choose the proper dog treat and save them for special occasions or training.

Just as important as WHAT your puppy eats is
HOW MUCH you feed your puppy.  Overfeeding is bad and can cause tummy aches, obesity and vomiting.  Information on the food container itself will show you how much to feed or ask your veterinarian.

Your puppy can not feed itself.  Help your family when it's time to feed your puppy and always make sure to provide an unlimited supply of fresh, clean water.

Accidents
Your puppy will almost certainly have accidents.  Sometimes they just can't wait to go outside and may urinate or have a bowel movement in the house.

Make sure you have mom and dad help with cleaning up  the mess and ALWAYS wash your hands with soap and water afterwards.

Take your puppy outside often especially after waking up from a nap and after eating meals.

Exercise and Walking
Your puppy needs exercise.  Take your puppy for walks on a leash.  Start slow, your puppy may struggle with the leash but be patient and persistent.  Your pup will get the hang of it and soon be walking at your side.

After exercise, allow your puppy to REST.  Just like babies, young puppies sleep quite a bit.  They grow while sleeping and develop important motor skills during rest time.   Do not disturb a sleeping puppy.

Obedience Training
Training your puppy is a wonderful way to bond with your pup.  Basic commands are very important for the safety of your puppy.

What would you do if your pup started to run to a busy street?

Come, Sit and Stay are the MINIMUM commands that every dog should know and obey.  Talk with your family about an obedience class for your new pet.

Healthcare
Too much bathing can make your puppy's skin dry and flaky.  Use only mild puppy shampoo and make sure you bathe only when necessary.

Visits to the veterinarian can be fun and are important for the good health of your pet.  The Doctor will answer any questions you may have about your pup.  They will also weigh and administer any vaccines that she is due for.  Don't forget to have mom and dad ask about flea and heartworm prevention.
